Wilma J. Cox, 74, of rural Fredonia, Kansas passed away Thursday, February 8, 2018 at
Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas.
Wilma J. Cox was born September 18, 1943 in Fredonia, Kansas the daughter of Paul Coats and Wilma (Kebert) Coats. She grew up in Fredonia and attended Fredonia schools.
She was united in marriage in 1961 at Miami, Oklahoma to Lester R. Cox and he preceded her in death March 18, 1987.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed sand painting. She will be remembered for being there for her children.
Wilma lived in Arizona for many years and moved back to Fredonia in 1988.
She was a lifetime member of the Fredonia VFW.
Survivors include her companion, John “Blackie” Hammer of the home, children, Rhonda Dodson of Benedict, Kansas, Lesley Cox of Washougal, Washington, siblings, Janice Wescott of Coyville, Kansas, Richard Coats of Boise, Idaho, 2 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Glenice Stussy and Katherine Joy.
Graveside Memorial Services will be held at 10:28 A.M., Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Weakley Cemetery in New Albany, Kansas with Mike Jeffers, officiating.
Memorial remembrances are suggested to Shriners Hospital and they may be left or mailed to Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 N. 7th, Fredonia, Kansas 66736.
