William "Bill" K. Stevens

William Kline "Bill" Stevens, 73, a longtime resident of the Benedict, Kansas area, died Sunday, May 9, 2010 at St. Mary"s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. He was born October 8, 1936 in Buffalo, Kansas, the son of Charles and Rebecca Ruth (Wells) Stevens. Bill was a graduate of Vilas High School, Chanute Junior College and Pittsburg State University. He has been a lifelong self-employed farmer. On September 9, 1962, in Kansas City, Kansas, he married Mary Lewallen. She survives at their home. Bill was a member of the High Prairie United Methodist Church, where he served on the pastor-parish relations board. He was also active on the High Prairie Cemetery board, Rural Water District #10, REC and Farm Bureau. Survivors, in addition to his wife, Mary, include: Two daughters: Tracey Paramore and her husband, Mike of Perry, KS Becca Stevens of Denver, CO One sister: Thelma Elaine Stewart of Edmond, OK Two grandchildren: Rylee and Brett Paramore of Perry, KS He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Sylvia Charlyne Reed. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, May 14, 2010 at the High Prairie United Methodist Church with Rev. Cheryl Martin officiating. Burial will be in the High Prairie Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Timmons Funeral Home on Thursday, 6:00 P.M.- 8:00 P.M. A memorial has been established in Bill"s name with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and may be sent to the funeral home. Words of condolence for the family may be left on this website.
