WILLIAM K. BLAIRWilliam "Bill" K. Blair, 73, of Cherryvale passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family.Celebration of Life Funeral Services will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, August 10, 2013 at Mount Zion Community Church northeast of Cherryvale at 20052 Chase Road, with Pastor Marty Warren, officiating." Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Cherryvale, Kansas.Friends may sign the register book from 12Noon until 8:00 P.M Friday at Wickham Family Funeral Home of Cherryvale with the family receiving friends from 6:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M.Memorial remembrances are suggested to the Mount Zion Community Church, Harden Hospice or Cherryvale Food Bank and may be left or mailed to Wickham Family Funeral Home, 216 East 4th Street, Cherryvale, Kansas" 67335.William K. Blair was born November 12, 1939 at Cherryvale, Kansas the son of James Jesse Blair and Opal (Knoles) Blair." He grew up in Cherryvale and graduated from Cherryvale High School in 1957." After he graduated he enlisted in the National Guard in Cherryvale and served 8 years.On May 9, 1959 at Parsons, Kansas he was united in marriage to Martha A. Bayless and she survives at the home.Bill worked as a control inspector for the Kansas State Board of Agriculture for many years until his retirement in 2006."" He later worked for the City of Cherryvale in the Public Works Department until ill health forced him to retire." Bill also loved farming and was the owner of Blair Farms." While working a full time job he also worked various jobs with Newton"s True Value, Jim Huneycutt, Cherryvale Grain for many years, drove a truck for Gragg Cabinets and Sedan Floral among several other jobs he did in his spare time .Survivors include wife, Martha of the home, three sons, James J. Blair of Edmond, Oklahoma, William Scott Blair of Cherryvale, Kansas, Douglas Alan Blair and his wife Shelli of Altamont, Kansas, two brothers, Larry Blair and his wife Judi of Narragansett, Rhode Island, Jerry Blair and his wife Irene of Nebraska, sister, Francis Ellen Stacy and her husband Lewis of Kansas City, Kansas, eighteen grandchildren, six great grandchildren and six nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents and uncle Orven Knoles.
