William D. “Bill” Compton, 84, of Fredonia, Kansas passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018 at his home.
William Dale Compton was born October 14, 1933 in Waynoka, Oklahoma the son of Clarence A. Compton and Dorothy M. (Clemans) Compton. He grew up in Fredonia and graduated from Fredonia High School in 1952.
On September 14, 1952 in Fredonia he was united in marriage to Lois Nadine Erbe and she survives at the home.
Bill was a farmer for over 40 years and later worked at RK Steel driving a truck until he was 77 and retired.
He enjoyed farming, wood working, playing cards, fishing, riding in the UTV/Kubota and was proud of the trophy deer on the wall in his home.
Bill will be remembered for telling good stories from his past.
He was a member of the Fredonia Co-Op and Thayer Christian Church.
Survivors include his wife of the home, children, David Compton of Fredonia, Kansas, Linda Winn and her husband Dayne of Newnan, Georgia, Roger Compton and his wife Karen of Fredonia, Kansas, brothers, Bob Compton and his wife Mary of LaFontaine, Kansas, Ben Compton and his wife Marilyn of Fredonia, Kansas, Dan Compton and his wife Betty Lu of Manhattan, Kansas, 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jerry Compton.
Celebration of Life Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M., Thursday, April 5, 2018 at Grace First Assembly of God Church in Fredonia.
Interment will follow in Fredonia City Cemetery.
Memorial remembrances are suggested to The Edge Youth at Grace First Assembly of God Church and they may be left or mailed to Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 N. 7th, Fredonia, Kansas 66736.
