Wayne Edward Payne, Sr.

Wayne Edward Payne, Sr., 83, resident of Wichita, Kansas, formerly of Benedict and Altoona, Kansas, died Friday, October 16, 2015 at his residence in Wichita. He was born September 23, 1932 in Benedict, the son of Arvell and Veola (Harris) Payne. Wayne was a graduate of Benedict High School. He served as a corporal in the United States Army 1951-1954. After returning home from the service, he began working at Boeing in Wichita. He retired as a supervisor in 1992 after 30 years of employment. On May 15, 1955 in Benedict, Wayne was united in marriage to Wilma Deanne Morgan. She survives at their home. He was a member of the Benedict Masonic Lodge #403, the Wichita Midian Shrine and the Sedgwick American Legion. In addition to his wife, Deanne, he is survived by: Son: Wayne E. (Jody) Payne, Jr. of Altoona, KS Daughter: Teresa D. (John) Burks of Wichita, KS Brothers: Richard (Judy) Payne of Benedict, KS Max (Charlotte) Payne of Fredonia, KS Larry (Margaret) Payne of Fredonia, KS Sisters: Pat (Ray) Graves of Anthony, KS Viona Bumgarner of Fredonia, KS Grandchildren: Derrick Payne, John Burks, Amy Payne, Heather Wolfe Great Grandchildren: Addison Marie Burks, Kayleigh Montana Wolfe Step Great Grandchildren: Dalton French, Dagn French, Dawsyn French, Ellie French Step Great-Great Grandchild: Asher French He was preceded in death by his parents, Arvel and Veola Payne. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at the Verdigris Valley Christian Fellowship in Altoona with Pastor Jim Raymond officiating. Burial will be in the Altoona Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday evening, 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. at Timmons Funeral Home. A memorial has been established in Wayne"s name with the Shriners Hospitals for Children and contributions may be sent to or left with Timmons Funeral Home.
