Wayne "Bus" Mcginnis

William Wayne "Bus" McGinnis, 82, a lifelong resident of the Lafontaine, Kansas area, died Sunday, January 2, 2011 at the Golden Living Center in Fredonia. He was born July 29, 1928 in rural Fredonia, the son of Fred D. and May (Tindle) McGinnis. Buss was a retired farmer and rancher and was a self-employed truck driver, as well as being in the trucking business with his brother, Gene McGinnis for many years. He also drove a school bus for several years. Buss was united in marriage to Dorothy Pryor, and to this union were born two daughters, Connie and Trena. They were later divorced. He later married Joyce Phillips and to this union, two children were born, Patti and Brian. They were later divorced. He also married Linda Lawrence and they had a son, Steve. Following their divorce, he married Ruby Bobb. They were later divorced. His favorite pastime was taking family and friends camping at "the ranch" in Missouri. He always enjoyed finding time to go fishing. He was very proud of the fact that he had driven well over one million miles and never put a dent in any of his trucks. In April 2008, Buss was baptized at the Buxton Christian Church, surrounded by family and friends. His survivors include: Three daughters: Connie Sexton of Cape Canaveral, FL Trena Oeschlager of Sedona, AZ Patti Price of Webb City, MO Two sons: Brian McGinnis of Parsons, KS Steve McGinnis of Kansas City, KS Five sisters: Freddie Sizemore of Independence, KS Georgia Hendry of Peck, KS Kay Harvey of Kansas City, MO Fern Schnoor of Coffeyville, KS Clara Belle Snyder of Triangle, VA 9 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren His parents; two brothers, Gene McGinnis and Jack McGinnis; and one sister, Polly McCabe, preceded him in death. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, January 10, 2011 at the White Cemetery near Lafontaine, Kansas, with Rev. Gene Benefiel of the Buxton Christian Church officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, January 9, 3:00 P.M.-5:00 P.M. Memorials have been established in his name with the Buxton Christian Church and Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. Contributions can be sent to the funeral home.
