Walter Anthony Reinhart

Walter Anthony Reinhart, 89, a resident of Fredonia, Kansas died Tuesday, January 9, 2007, at his residence. He was born December 22, 1917, northwest of Fredonia in Wilson County, the son of Jacob and May (Sadler) Reinhart. He was self employed as a heavy equipment operator for 45 years and built most of the ponds in this area. He later owned Reinhart Equipment Sales. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the 3rd Corps Military Police and as a combat soldier in the 1st & 3rd Army in the United States, England, France, Belgium, Luxemburg and Germany. He earned three battle stars. On May 26, 1939, in Fredonia, he married Maxine Prichard and she preceded him in death March 30, 1996. He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church where he had been a Sunday school teacher and a Deacon. His hobbies included motorcycles, collector of antique steam engines and loved the railroad and old steam trains. His survivors include: Son - Dr. Roland "Max" Reinhart of Athens, GA Two Daughters - Diane Shaver of Fredonia, KS Shannon Doane of Fredonia, KS One Sister - Katherine McKinley of Seattle, WA Six Grandchildren Three Great Grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brothers, Raymond, Jacob and Henry Reinhart and sisters, Pat Sinclair, Lessie Van Zandt, Bertha Cool, Peg Griffin and Myrtle Sanford. Visitation will be held at Timmons Funeral Home on Thursday, January 11, 2007, from 2:00 PM " 7:00 PM and the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM " 7:00 PM. Private Graveside services will be held at Fredonia City Cemetery. A memorial has been established in his name with Bible Baptist Church.
