Vivian Nadine Parker

Vivian Nadine Parker, 76, a longtime resident of Fredonia, Kansas, died Friday, November 30, 2007 at the Golden Living Center in Neodesha, Kansas. She was born October 8, 1931, near Thayer, Kansas, the daughter of Clarence Bartlett and Lila Lois (Hines) Babcock. She was a graduate of Altoona High School. On April 15, 1951, near Earlton, Kansas, she married John W. Parker. He survives at their home. John and Vivian owned and operated Self Service Grocery Store in Fredonia for many years. Vivian also worked at the ASCS Office in Fredonia for a few years, but what she was most proud of was being a wife, mother and homemaker. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fredonia and had been an active member of the United Methodist Women and the 1910 Club. Survivors, in addition to her husband, John, include: Two Sons: Gayle Parker of Tonganoxie, KS Clifford Parker of Bentonville, AR One Daughter: Sharon Little of Bentonville, AR Two Brothers: Wayne Babcock of San Jacinto, CA Clinton Babcock of Lansing, KS Two Sisters: Darlene Patterson of Chanute, KS Coleen Miller of Fredonia, KS Six Grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents; two infants, Karen Jean and Steven Ruel; and one brother, Gene Babcock. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Charlotte Coates officiating. Burial will be in the Fredonia City Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, 2:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M., where the family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M.
