Victor Theodore Metzger Jr., 82, a resident of Ripley, Oklahoma, died Friday, March 17, 2007 in Cushing, Oklahoma. He was born March 22, 1924 in Coldwater, Kansas, the son of Victor Theodore and Ethel (Wait) Metzger. A veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a custom neon sign maker. Mr. Metzger was one of the organizers of "Chosin," a gospel quartet vocal group. He was a member of the Highland Park Freewill Baptist Church and belonged to the American Legion. He was married to Dorothy Durham in Fredonia, Kansas. She preceded him in death April 11, 1999. On August 6, 2005, he married Dorothy Boen in Stillwater, Oklahoma. She survives at their home. He is also survived by: One son- Tim Metzger of Spring, Oklahoma Two daughters- Debbie Higgins of Stillwater, Oklahoma Vicki Stockton of Derby, Kansas Two stepsons- Ray Lee of Cushing, Oklahoma Gary Lee of Ripley, Oklahoma Two stepdaughters- Suzanne Chastain of Chehalis, Washington Kathleen Hocking of Chehalis, Washington Three brothers- Clifford Metzger of Salina, Kansas Everett Metzger of Fredonia, Kansas Alvin Metzger of Ponca City, Oklahoma 26 Grandchildren; 26 Great Grandchildren; and 10 Great-Great Grandchildren He was preceded in death by two sons, Larry and Thomas; one daughter, Patricia; two brothers, James and David; and two step children, Carolyn Drummond and Steven Lee. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 24, 2007 at the Fredonia City Cemetery. Memorials contributions may be made to the Victor Metzger Memorial Fund and may be sent to the funeral home. Timmons Funeral Home is in charge of the local arrangements.
