Tommy C. Connell

Tommy C. Connell, 83, a resident of Fall River, Kansas, formerly of Wichita, Kansas, Kansas, died early Thursday, September 17, 2009, at Fredonia Regional Hospital. He was born July 24, 1926 in Fall River, the son of Johnnie and Elizabeth (Proehl) Connell. From 1944-1946, Tommy served in the United States Navy as a radio man 3rd class. He was employed as a school teacher in Fall River, Eureka and USD 259 Wichita schools for many years. He also coached girls basketball and officiated basketball with his brother, Clayton. On February 14, 2009, in Wichita, he married Becky (Gardner) Ogden. She survives at their home. He was a member of the Greenwood Masonic Lodge, the Elks Lodge and the Fall River United Methodist Church. Survivors, in addition to his wife, Becky, include: One step-son: Dallas Ogden of New Albany, KS One step-daughter: Shawna Ogden of Wichita, KS One brother & sister-in-law: Jack and Virginia Connell of Eureka, KS Nephews & niece: Billie, Johnnie and Andi Four Step-Grandchildren: Matthew Sumner, Talon Kariker, Kelton Gile and Lola Ogden Cousin: Billy Stewart of Severy, KS He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Clayton Connell; and nephew, Jackie Connell. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 22, 2009 at Timmons Funeral Home with Mike Myers officiating. Burial will be in the Fredonia City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Timmons Funeral Home on Monday, 5:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. A memorial has been established in Tommy"s name with the Shriners Hospitals for Children and may be sent to the funeral home. Words of condolence for the family may be left on this website.
