After serving his tour of duty in Japan, he attended Kansas University and earned his degree in Pharmacy. During his years at KU, he met and married Helen Payne. They won a radio contest and was married on the radio show “Bride and Groom” in California. Tom worked at Carl Drug in Cherryvale before owning it after the owner died. Many local high school students have fond memories of working for him.
Tom was active in golf and coaching Little League, played the French Horn in the Mid-Continent Band for nearly 80 years as well as area musical productions and area bands, was active in civic organizations and his church, and loved to paint. Tom was a faithful son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather, the spiritual leader of his home.
