Terry W. DeMoss, 61, of Cherryvale, Kansas was called to his heavenly home on Monday, May 17, 2021 at Labette Health in Parsons, Kansas with his beloved wife at his side.
Terry Wayne DeMoss was born July 5, 1959 in Lake Charles, Louisiana, the son of Leo and Helen (Blackburn) DeMoss. He graduated from Independence High School in 1977.
On February 18, 1978 in Independence, Kansas he was united in marriage to Susan Pryor and they later divorced.
He married the love of his life, Amy Brooks, on October 24, 1992 in Cherryvale, Kansas, who survives at the home.
Terry worked for Katy Railroad and later Union Pacific for 41 ½ years before retiring in July of 2019. After his retirement, he worked for the Public Works Department with the City of Cherryvale.
Terry relished the time with his grandchildren and loved being with family and friends. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, trains, woodworking, and traveling. He never met a stranger and to know him was to love him.
He proudly served 22 years with the Kansas Army National Guard. Terry was an active member of the New Hope Christian Church in Cherryvale, serving as a trustee. He was a faithful man who loved the Lord before all else.
Survivors include his wife, Amy, and fur baby, Gracie, 5 children: Tara Bell of Olathe, KS, Jacob Russell (Kristen) of Indianapolis, IN, Jessica Herold of Wichita, KS, Lauren Houghton (Josh) of Pittsburg, KS, Nick DeMoss (Jodi) of Andover, KS; 10 grandchildren: Quintin, Maddie, Jayden, Kayson, Isabelle, Cooper, Noah, Eden, Lakyn, Aubrey; brother, Tracy DeMoss (Liz) of Erie, KS; 2 nieces and 2 nephews.
Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, May 22, 2021 at New Hope Christian Church, 908 East 4th, Cherryvale, KS 67335.
The family will greet friends Friday, May 21, 2021 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 216 East 4th, Cherryvale, KS 67335.
Memorial remembrances are suggested to Wounded Warrior Project or New Hope Christian Church and can be mailed or left at the funeral home.
