Ted Gray

Theodore P. "Ted" Gray, 86, a resident of Fredonia, Kansas, died early this morning, Monday, May 4, 2009, at Fredonia Regional Hospital. He was born April 15, 1923 in Bonita, Kansas, the son of John W. and Jessie P. Gray. He was a graduate of Miami, Oklahoma High School. Ted served in the United States Marine Corp 1942-1945. He worked for more than 41 years as a depot agent for the Frisco Railroad, which later became the Burlington Northern-Frisco Railroad, retiring in 1982. On August 17, 1948, Ted married Bernadine P. Staeber. She survives at their home. Ted was a member of Lions International and Fredonia Chamber of Commerce. He coached basketball for the Fredonia Recreation Department and served as a Boy Scout Leader. Survivors, in addition to his wife, Bernadine, include: One daughter: Ruthanne Crawshaw and husband Ron of McCracken, KS One son: James J. Gray of Topeka, KS One sister: Merle Coe of Occidental, CA Two grandchildren: Jeff Crawshaw Paula Greenway and husband Bill Three great grandchildren: William, Michael and Stephanie Greenway Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, May 7, 2009 at the First Christian Church in Fredonia with Carl Thornton officiating. Friends may call at Timmons Funeral Home on Wednesday, 2:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M. with the family receiving friends 5:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M. Burial will take place on Friday, May 8, 2009 in Lorraine, Kansas. Memorials have been established in Ted"s name with First Christian Church in Fredonia and the Fredonia Flag Fund. Words of condolence for the family may be left at on this website.
