Stanley "Joe" Culbertson

Stanley "Joe" Culbertson, 63, a lifelong resident of Fredonia, Kansas, died Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Fredonia Regional Hospital. He was born July 11, 1948 in Independence, Kansas, the son of Orval "Shorty" and Otheal E. (Bennett) Culbertson. Joe was a graduate of Fredonia High School. He was employed by the City of Fredonia for many years as the trash truck driver. On November 7, 1970 in Fredonia, Joe was united in marriage to Terri Chilcott. Terri survives at their home. Joe loved to be outdoors working in the yard or taking care of the garden. In the warm months, he could be found next to a pond with his fishing pole and when it snowed, he was known to be out building snowmen. He enjoyed making wooden yard ornaments and watching western movies. Survivors, in addition to his wife, Terri, include: Two sons: Dale and Jessica Culbertson of Tyler, TX Joey and Ronda Culbertson of Fredonia, KS Four sisters: Phyllis Doane of Fredonia, KS Kerry Traphagen of Fredonia, KS Taffy Busch of Iola, KS Minnie Culbertson of Fredonia, KS Two brothers: Benny Culbertson of Fredonia, KS Timmy Culbertson of Mound City, KS Five grandchildren: Krista Culbertson, Malachi Culbertson, Zachery Culbertson, Abigail Culbertson and Tyler Pierpoint Numerous nieces and nephews His parents and three siblings, Steven Culbertson, Sharon Jansen and Theron Culbertson, preceded Joe in death. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Timmons Funeral Home with Pastor Ray Pile of the First Assembly of God Church officiating. A private burial will be held at Fredonia City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening, 6:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. at Timmons Funeral Home. A memorial has been established in Joe"s name with the American Heart Association and contributions can be sent to the funeral home. Words of condolence for the family may be posted on this website.
