- Sharon Louise Wheeler, a beloved member of her community and a cherished matriarch, passed away on November 13, 2024, at the age of 82. Born on November 21, 1941, in St. Paul, Kansas, she was the daughter of Fred and Esther (Hubin) Rehmert.
- Sharon had a fulfilling career as a cook for Thayer Schools, where her contributions to the lives of countless children will be fondly remembered.
- Sharon married the love of her life, Glen Wheeler, on December 19, 1959, in a ceremony at Thayer Christian Church in Thayer, Kansas. Together they created a life filled with love, laughter, and memorable experiences.
- Sharon was a devoted member of Thayer Christian Church. Her personality shone brightly through her caring and humble nature. She was known as a sweet and beautiful person inside and out, always tending to the needs of others. Even in her final days, Sharon displayed her characteristic determination and love by maintaining a list of things she wished to complete, exemplifying her selfless spirit and resolve.
- Sharon had many passions, including sewing and traveling to the mountains of Colorado. She cherished the moments spent with her family and the adventures taken on vacations with Glen, which became treasured memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
- Sharon leaves behind her husband, Glen, with whom she shared her life, as well as their children: Jeff (Karen) Wheeler of Chanute, Kansas; Sharene (Kyle) White of Oxford, Kansas; and Greg (Kim) Wheeler of Paola, Kansas. Her legacy continues through her sibling, her brother Fred Rehmert of Thayer, Kansas, and her eight grandchildren: Abby Church, Lindsey Peters, Gabe Sheerer, Katie Meek, Nick Wheeler, Hunter Wheeler, Cole Wheeler, and Jessica House. She also embraced the joy of seven great-grandchildren, who brought her immense pride and happiness.
- Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Esther Rehmert; her sisters, Cleva Chambers and Linda Haviland; her brother, Larry "Pete" Rehmert; and her beloved grandsons, Jeremy and Jeffrey Wheeler, as well as one great-grandson, Dillon Peters.
- Sharon Louise Wheeler will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family and community will forever be remembered.
- Memorials are suggested to Thayer Christian Church Daycare or Fields of Faith -Carlie Almond and can be left with or mailed to the funeral home.
- A visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at 11:00 AM at the Thayer Christian Church, located at 8495 Dorn Rd, Thayer, Kansas, 66776.
