Sharon Kay Hicks

Sharon Kay Hicks, 75, of Cherryvale, Kansas died Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at her home.

Sharon Kay Hicks was born July 30, 1942 at Chanute, Kansas the daughter of Ed Bussman and Ruth Umbarger. She grew up in Chanute and graduated from Chanute High School in 1960. She also attended Neosho County Community College.

She was united in marriage to J.D. Hicks in Miami, Oklahoma June 5, 1968 and later divorced.

Sharon worked as a bus driver at Cherryvale USD #447 for over 30 plus years. Sharon was also a rancher raising cattle, horses and various other animals.

Sharon enjoyed cattle, driving the bus and taking care of her animals. She will be remembered for not being afraid to speak her mind and living life the way she wanted.

Sharon was a member of the Cherryvale Public Library Board and Eastern Star.

Survivors include children, Amy Corle of Nowata, Oklahoma and Jaylene Clark of Vinita, Oklahoma; brother, Bob Bussman and wife Connie of Chanute, Kansas; grandchildren, Taylor Hicks, Tara Daniels and Andy Emerson; niece, Amanda Ellis and greatgrandchildren, Trever & Kambriegh Daniels.

Cremation has taken place under the guidance of Wickham Family Funeral Home of Cherryvale. Services will be held Saturday, September 9th, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Wickham Family Funeral Home.
