Samuel Dean Claibourn, 56, a longtime resident of Wilson County, Kansas died Thursday, March 8, 2012 at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, KS. He was born June 22, 1955 in Fredonia, the son of Buddy Dean and Nellie (Shay) Claibourn. Sam attended high school in Neodesha and graduated with the class of 1973. Sam enjoyed hunting, trapping, and fishing and was a member of the Twin River Coon Hunters Association. He also enjoyed rodeos and competed as a Bull Rider, Team Roper, and Bulldogger when he wasn"t fighting bulls with "Dynamite" Darrel Garner and Danny Cox. In later years, Sam announced for the Hebb Brother Rodeo Company. He was also a member of the Fredonia Saddle Club. Sam"s survivors include: Mother: Nellie Claibourn of Fredonia, KS Two Children: Amy Jacot of South Coffeyville, OK Jarrod Claibourn of Fredonia, KS Two Sisters: Cathy Carlson of Yates Center, KS Melissa Shoaf of Fredonia, KS Two Brothers: Warren Claibourn of Altoona, KS Oren Claibourn of Joplin, MO 6 Grandchildren He was preceded in death by his father, one son Jason Dean Claibourn, one sister Audrey Claibourn, and one brother Ricky Claibourn. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Wednesday March 14, 2012, 11:00 A.M. at the Cornerstone Christian Church in Fredonia with Pastor Mike Hughes officiating. Inurnment will be in the Fredonia City Cemetery. Friends are welcome to come by the funeral home on Tuesday to sign the register book. A memorial has been established in Sam"s name with the Wilson County Fair Association and may be sent to the funeral home. Words of condolence for the family may be left on this website.
