Ruth Scott

Ruth Scott, 93, a lifelong resident of Fredonia, Kansas died Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Fredonia Regional Hospital. She was born August 19, 1919 in Fredonia, the middle of thirteen children born to Frank Andrew and Ruth (Foreman) Lyon. She was a homemaker. On February 27, 1939 in Fredonia, Ruth was united in marriage to Thomas Ross Scott. He preceded her in death December 3, 2008. Ruth was a member of the Bible Holiness Church in Independence and had been a member of the Fire Baptized Holiness Church in Fredonia for many years. Ruth enjoyed playing the piano, canning from her garden, baking, painting and drawing, sewing and making rag rugs. Ruth"s survivors include: Five children: Wanda Law of Wichita, KS Jimmy Scott of Cherryvale, KS Naomi Barnhart of Altoona, KS Marilyn Bilyeu of Wichita, KS Margaret Littlewood of Rio Rancho, NM Four brothers: Kenneth Lyon of Olathe, KS Garrold Lyon of Benton City, WA Lewis Lyon of Bartlesville, OK Frank Lyon of Richland, WA Three sisters: Ellamae Branson of Topeka, KS Mildred Boster of Berryton, KS Wilma Kebert of Wichita, KS Eleven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. One granddaughter, Laura Fisher; one great granddaughter, Angela Law; and five siblings, Annabelle, Lucille, Alice, Francis and Richard also preceded her in death. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Timmons Funeral Home with Rev. Loren Rovenstine officiating. Burial will be in the Farmington Cemetery north of Fredonia. Friends may call on Friday, 3:00-5:00 P.M. at Timmons Funeral Home. A memorial has been established in Ruth"s name with the Alzheimer"s Association and can be sent to Timmons Funeral Home.
