Roxie Grace Upshaw

Grace Upshaw, 89, a lifelong resident of the Fredonia, Kansas, area, died Thursday, April 1, 2010 at Golden Living Center in Neodesha, Kansas. She was born January 31, 1921 in rural Fredonia, the daughter of Robert and Mae (Little) Shue. Grace worked as a plate burner for Midwestern Litho Printing for many years. On December 4, 1940 in Fredonia, Kansas, she married Raymond Upshaw. He preceded her in death December 29, 1978. Grace was a member of the First Christian Church in Fredonia and worked many years at the Christian Thrift Shop. Grace"s survivors include: T wo daughters: Karen Klein of Davenport, IA Myrna Spohn of Fredonia, KS Three sisters: Mary Ropp of Fredonia, KS Helen Cunningham of Fredonia, KS Mable Plemmons of Modesto, CA Five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Alda and Crystal; three brothers, Harold, Roy and Edwin; and granddaughter, Deanna Bauman. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 3, 2010 at the Fredonia City Cemetery with Tony Blackwell officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, 5:00-6:00 PM at the funeral home. A memorial has been established in Grace"s name with the Christian Thrift Shop and may be sent to the funeral home.
