Roberta L. Louia

Roberta Louise Louia, 81, of Altoona Kansas, passed away, July 29, 2020 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin Missouri. Roberta was born February 4, 1939 to Christina Helen Shoemaker in Wichita, Kansas. Her mother married Clarence Taylor and he adopted her and her brother.

Roberta was raised on a farm 10 miles south west of Columbus, Kansas and graduated from Columbus High School in May 1957. After graduation, she went to Wichita to live with her uncle. There she met and married, Bruce Harold McBride and were married in August 1957 to this union were four children. They were later divorced. On October 11, 1976 she married Robert (Bob) Louia and they adopted a baby girl in 1983. The best thing she ever did. Bob preceded her in death in January 2015.

Roberta worked for many years in the food business until she went to work for Max Cook at the drapery business in Fredonia, Kansas. She later worked for National Garment in Chanute, Kansas, until they closed. She worked for Cobalt Boats for 20 some years until her retirement in December 2018.

Roberta stated that she lived a good life. It had been hard at times, but God always helped her through it. Sometimes she thought He had given her mountains that she would never climb but with His help, she did.

Survivors include children; Randal A. McBride, Altoona, Kansas, Ronald A. McBride, Pittsburg, Kansas, Cathlina M. McBride, Florence, Alabama and Jennifer L. Mitchell, Crestview, Florida, brother, Jesse (Butch) F. Taylor, Klamoth Falls, Oregon, step brother, Donad L. Ventle, Lubbock, Texas, 9 Grandchildren and 9 Great-Grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and daughter, Christina Jamison.

The family will receive friends 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M., Sunday, August 2, 2020 at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 North 7th, Fredonia, Kansas.

Graveside Services will be held 10:30 A.M., Monday, August 3, 2020 at Buffville Cemetery.
