Robert William Lefferd, 53, a resident of Kansas City, Missouri and a former resident of Fredonia, died Monday, December 5, 2005, at his home in Kansas City. He was born August 3, 1952 in Fredonia, the son of William and Virginia (Lamb) Lefferd. He graduated from Fredonia High School in 1970 and then attended Pittsburg State University where he received a degree in Automotive Engineering in 1974. He was employed by John Deere Company for 30 years as a training instructor, being transferred to different locations in the John Deere Company. He was employed in Jonesboro, Arkansas; Moline, Illinois; Murfreesboro, Tennesse; and Atlanta, Georgia before being transferred to Kansas City, Kansas, where he had resided for the last five years. His survivors include: His mother, Virginia Lefferd of Fredonia, KS; two brothers, David Lefferd of Fredonia, KS; Wayne Lefferd of Weimar, TX; Nephews, Gordon & Edward Lefferd of Weimar, TX; Scott Lefferd, currently serving in Iraq; Brian Lefferd of Jacksonville, FL; Nieces, Jenny & Hilary Settle of Fredonia, KS; and Grand Niece, Lily Lefferd of Topeka, KS. He was preceded in death by his father, William Lefferd and one brother, John Lefferd. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, December 9, 2005, at the Muehlebach Funeral Home in Kansas City, Missouri. A graveside service will be held on Friday at 3:00 P.M. at the Farmington Cemetery, north of Fredonia. A memorial has been established in his name with the American Cancer Society and may be sent to the funeral home. Timmons Funeral Home, PO Box 168, Fredonia, KS, 66736, is in charge of the local arrangements.
