ROBERT G. ELLSWORTHRobert "Bob" G. Ellsworth, 80, of Independence, Kansas passed away Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, March 8, 2013 at the Zion Lutheran Church with Reverend Roland Vega, officiating." The family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the church." "Services are under the direction of Wickham Family Funeral Home of Cherryvale." Interment will take place at a later date.Memorial remembrances are suggested to the Zion Lutheran Church or Leukemia Lymphoma Society and may be mailed to Wickham Family Funeral Home, 216 East 4th street, Cherryvale, Kansas" 67335.Robert Glenn Ellsworth was born May 11, 1932 in Gary, Indiana the son of Clair Ellsworth and Anne (Aikens) Ellsworth." He graduated from Leyden High School in Franklin Park, Illinois in 1950."" After graduation he served in the United States Army during the Korean War for three years attaining the rank of Corporal." He was the recipient of two bronze star medals "during his service.On March 21, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois he was united in marriage to Beverly Bessert and she preceded him in death June 9, 2002.He later was united in marriage to Judith M. Nickolls November 27, 2004 in Independence, Kansas and she survives at the home.Robert worked as an Engineering Technician for 17 years for the City of Elmhurst, Illinois before retiring in 1992." He worked other jobs in the Engineering field such as drafting and surveying.He enjoyed visiting with fellow pilots at the airport and his favorite hobby was to fly his personal airplane not only around the area but to Missouri, Arkansas and Oklahoma.Robert was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Independence, Kansas and lifetime member of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church.Survivors include Judith of the home," five children, Thomas Ellsworth of Algonquin, Illinois, Douglas Ellsworth of Schaumburg, Illinois, Gregory Ellsworth of Villa Park, Illinois, Roberta Ellsworth of McHenry, Illinois, Kevin Ellsworth of Winfield, Illinois, 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
