Robert Bruce Mcpherson Sr.

Robert Bruce McPherson Sr, 80, a resident of rural Altoona died early Friday morning, April 22, 2011. He was born January 18, 1931 in Fredonia, the son of Silas Oliver and Jennie (Garner) McPherson. He was a 1949 graduate of Fredonia High School. Robert served in the United States Navy, 1948-1950. On February 16, 1963 in Wichita, Kansas, Robert married Eileen Nitschke. She survives at her home in Chanute. Throughout his lifetime, Robert held several jobs, including quality inspector for Cessna Aircraft, fleet and sales leasing manager for Lincoln-Mercury, and farmer and rancher. Robert was a member of the PRCA and was the Hacienda La Puente USD President of the School Board in California. He also served on the Kansas Republican National Committee. Survivors, in addition to his wife Eileen, include: Four children: Tracy Howard of Independence, MO Robert McPherson Jr. of Arvada, CO Todd McPherson of Wichita, KS Troy McPherson of Lake Elsinore, CA Two sisters: Crystal Jump of Parsons, KS Doris Weaver of Bella Vista, AR 10 Grandchildren, 9 Great Grandchildren and 1 Great-Great Grandchild He was preceded in death by his parents and nine brothers and sisters. Cremation has taken place and memorial graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at the Mt. Pleasant/Belleview Cemetery near Buxton, with Rev. Gene Benefiel of the Buxton Christian Church officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard. A memorial has been established in his name with the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and donations may be sent to the funeral home. Words of condolence for the family may be left on this website.
