Robert "Bob" Fredrick Hawkins,75, peacefully passed away at home in Cherryvale on Thursday, December 26, 2024.
Bob was born on August 8, 1949, in Cherryvale, Kansas the son of Forrest A. Hawkins and Lucille (Friley) Hawkins.
Bob graduated from Cherryvale High School in 1968 and went on to lead a life filled with hard work and dedication. He held many different jobs but spent 24 years working at the local grocery store, beginning when it was known as Piggly Wiggly. After that, he owned BH Sheet Metal for 15 years before retiring in 2011.
Bob was known for his kind and welcoming nature, always making others feel at ease. He cherished spending time with his family and had various interests, including hunting deer and upland gamebirds, as well as fishing for catfish and crappie.
On August 7, 1968, he married Linda D. Marchant in Parsons, Kansas, a proud moment in his life. Together, they raised two sons, Tony Hawkins and his wife Tammie of Cleora, Oklahoma, and Rodney Hawkins of Ponca City, Oklahoma. He delighted in the company of his granddaughters, Kenzie (Ryan) Hawkins, Beth (Jordan) Walker, and Kaylie (J.C.) Hawkins, and he was a proud great-grandfather to Wrenley Walker and Imber Norris.
Bob is survived by his loving wife, Linda (Marchant) Hawkins, his sons, granddaughters, great-granddaughters, and his sisters, Connie Burns of Lewisville, Texas, and Mary Jo Karstetter of Cherryvale, Kansas, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Charles Hawkins, and his sisters, Pat Messner and Judy Tyler.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 31, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Wickham Family Funeral Home in Cherryvale, Kansas. A graveside service will take place at Fairview Cemetery at 1:00 PM, followed by visitation with family later in the day from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Hawkins residence. Bob will be remembered fondly for his warmth, love, and commitment to his family and community.
Memorial remembrances are suggested to the Mike D. Rash Memorial Scholarship or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and they may be left at or mailed to Wickham Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 216 East 4th, Cherryvale, Kansas 67335
