Rhonda Jo Marple, 59, a longtime resident of rural Buffalo, Kansas, formerly of Wichita, Kansas, died Monday, April 20, 2009 at Fredonia Regional Hospital. She was born October 5, 1949 in Wichita, the daughter of Owen Duane and Delora May (Rollins) Baird. She was graduated from Midway High School in 1967 and received her Associates degree from Independence Community College. Rhonda was a secretary for Advanced System Homes in Chanute for 25 years. On May 29, 1971 at High Prairie, she married David Dean Marple. He survives at their home. Rhonda was a longtime active member of the High Prairie United Methodist Church, where she was the pianist, a Sunday school teacher and a bible school teacher and member of the United Methodist Women, where she was the treasurer. She was also a member of the Gideon Bible Society and the Wilson County Farm Bureau. Survivors, in addition to her husband, David, include: One son: Kris Marple of Benedict, KS Her mother: Delora Baird of Chanute, KS One brother: Kent Baird of Hutchinson, KS One sister: Sue Murphy of The Woodlands, TX She was preceded in death by her father, O.D. Baird. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at the High Prairie United Methodist Church with Revs. Cheryl and Donald Martin officiating. Burial will be in the High Prairie Cemetery. Friends may call at Timmons Funeral Home on Tuesday, 2:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M., with the family receiving friends 5:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M. Memorials have been established in her name with the High Prairie United Methodist Church and the Gideon Bible Society and donations may be sent to the funeral home.
