Patricia "Pat" May Blankinship

Patricia May "Pat" Blankinship, 89, a resident of Fredonia, Kansas, formerly of Wichita, Kansas, died Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Fredonia Regional Hospital. She was born May 9, 1924 in Fredonia, the daughter of Sidney G. and Marie (Schuler) Blankinship. She was a 1942 graduate of Fredonia High School and a 1949 graduate of St. Mary"s University in Leavenworth, Kansas. In 1957, Pat received her Master"s Degree in Social Work from St. Louis University. Pat worked as a social worker at Catholic Social Services in Wichita 1957-1962. In 1962, she began her career with the State of Kansas Social and Rehabilitation Services in Wichita, where her social work focus was on child welfare. Prior to her retirement in 1986, Pat was named manager of the Social Services Unit in Wichita. She was a faithful member of the Sacred Heart Church and the Sacred Heart Altar Society. She was also a member of the Fredonia Regional Hospital Auxiliary and Women"s Mutual Benefit. She delivered Meals on Wheels and enjoyed Bingo at the Senior Center. Pat was very sports minded and always kept up with current events. She was a very charitable woman and an advocate for the Humane Society, as well as opening her home to many stray cats over the years. Pat was a beloved daughter, sister and aunt, and her survivors include: One sister: Gloria Robins of Ellinwood, KS Ten nephews & nieces: John Blankinship, Bob Blankinship, Ross Blankinship, Dan Robins, Dave Robins, Todd Robins, Kathy Noller, Patty Passman, Becky Willinger and Nancy Jacobski Her parents and two brothers, Patrick and John Blankinship preceded her in death. Rosary will be said at 10:00 A.M. followed by funeral Mass at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at the Sacred Heart Church in Fredonia. Inurnment will follow in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. A memorial has been established in Pat"s name with the Sacred Heart Church and contributions can be sent to or left with Timmons Funeral Home. Words of condolence may be left on this website.
