Opal L. Mcdowell

Opal L. McDowell, 76, of Wichita, Kansas passed away Saturday, July 4, 2020 at her residence.

Opal Louise McDowell was born December 21, 1943 in Cherryvale, Kansas the daughter of Uel G. Hagan and Hassie (Cutshall) Hagan. She grew up in Cherryvale and graduated from Cherryvale High School in 1961.

She was united in marriage to Dewayne McDowell in Sylvester, Georgia in April of 1997 and he preceded her in death March of 2017.

Opal retired from ACC Distribution in the accounts receivable department after many years.

She enjoyed working on crossword puzzles, reading, puzzles and dancing when she was able. She will be remembered for her love for her family and raising her children was a full time job.

Survivors include her children, Jeff Shepard of Wichita, Kansas, Ronda Shepard of Wichita, Kansas, siblings, Ronnie Hagan of Wichita, Kansas, Debra Casement of New Hampshire, Peggy Chandler of Thomasville, Georgia, Deloris McLaughlin of Cherryvale, Kansas, 5 grand children and 8 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Mike Hagan, Clyde Hagan, Jimmy Hagan, Clarissa Pruitt, Karen Freeman and Joyce Hagan

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, July 9, 2020 at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 216 East 4th, Cherryvale, Kansas.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home.

Interment will follow the service at Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale.
