Lois Nadine Compton, age 91, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at the Morningstar Care Home of Fredonia.
She was born on November 3, 1933, in Neodesha, Kansas, Nadine was a devoted mother, loving grandmother, great grandmother and a steadfast member of her community.
Nadine was a graduate of Fredonia High School, with the class of 1951. On September 14, 1952, Nadine wed William Dale Compton in Fredonia, Kansas. Bill preceded her in death, on April 1, 2018.
Nadine led a life filled with hard work and dedication. She served as a secretary at Farm Bureau when she was younger, and in her pivotal roles as a homemaker, mom, and farmer's wife, she embodied the spirit of commitment to family.
Nadine was known for being an avid reader, enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and her culinary talents. She particularly gained admiration for her delicious pies and potato salad, delights that will long be remembered by those who had the pleasure of sharing a meal with her.
Nadine was much more than a homemaker; she was actively involved in numerous community organizations. A member of the Thayer Christian Church, she participated in the Wilson County Relay for Life and was affiliated with the American Cancer Society. At the age of 42, Nadine bravely faced breast cancer, later helping others through her participation in Reach to Recovery, supporting women in their journey to recovery.
She leaves behind a loving family that includes her children: David Compton of Fredonia, Linda (Dayne) Winn of Valley, Alabama, and Roger (Karen) Compton of Fredonia. Nadine’s family also includes 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, whose lives she enriched through her unwavering love and guidance.
Nadine is reunited in spirit with her beloved husband, William Dale Compton, as well as her parents, Edward and Lois (Heath) Erbe, and her brothers, Larry and Russell Erbe.
Nadine's life will be honored with a visitation and celebration of life at Thayer Christian Church, in Thayer Kansas on Thursday, March 27, 2025, beginning at 1:00 PM, followed by the service at 2:00 PM. She will be laid to rest at Fredonia City Cemetery, in Fredonia, Kansas.
