Mildred E. Opperman, 95, a longtime resident of Fredonia, Kansas, formerly of Yates Center, Kansas, died Thursday, May 22, 2008 at the Golden Living Center in Neodesha, Kansas. She was born December 18, 1912 in rural Yates Center, the daughter of Amil H. and Irma E. (Mulsow) Light. She was a graduate of Yates Center High School. On January 17, 1932, in Yates Center, she married Alfred W. (Buss) Opperman. He preceded her in death October 13, 1982. Mildred was a homemaker. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fredonia and the United Methodist Women. Her Survivors include: Two Daughters: Maurita Spohn of Fredonia, Kansas Marcia Parsons of Fredonia, Kansas One Sister: Virginia Louderbaugh of Yates Center, Kansas Four Grandchildren; Five Great Grandchildren; and Two Great-Great Grandchildren Graveside services will be held at 11:00A.M. on Tuesday, May 27, 2008 at the Askren Cemetery northwest of Yates Center with Rev. Marcia Eaton officiating. A memorial has been established in her name with the Fredonia Regional Hospital Building Fund and may be sent to the funeral home.
