Michael M. Golay, 60, a resident of Buffalo, Kansas, and lifelong resident of the Wilson County area, died Tuesday, June 20, 2006, at his home. He was born April 22, 1946 in Fredonia, the son of George and Betty Jean (Dill) Golay. He was a graduate of Fredonia High School. He was employed as a emergency medical technician for Neosho County Memorial Regional Medical Center in Chanute for 20 years, retiring in 1997. He had also been employed as a Wilson County and Neosho County Deputy and a police officer for the City of Humboldt. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Church. His hobbies included collecting vintage guns, listening to music and corvettes. He had a love for medicine and for his grandchildren. In June of 1979 he married Judy Collins. They were later divorced. His survivors include: One son, Mike Golay of Chanute, KS One brother, Patrick Golay of Carthage, MO Two grandchildren Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, June 26, 2006, at the Fredonia City Cemetery with Father Stephen Baxter of the Sacred Heart Church officiating. The Michael Golay Memorial Medical Scholarship has been established by his family and donations may be sent to the funeral home.
