Merle Wambsganss, 79, a resident of Fredonia, Kansas, died Tuesday, January 30, 2007 in Bloomington, Minnesota. He was born August 10, 1927, north of Fall River, in Greenwood County, the son of William and Sophia (Hellman) Wambsganss. He farmed the area north of Fall River until the late 1950"s. He then farmed north of Fredonia and in the Fredonia area until his recent retirement. On August 2, 1958 in Erie, Kansas, he married Patricia Ann Shepherd and they were married for 48 years. She survives at their home in Fredonia. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Fredonia and the Wilson County Conservation District. Survivors, in addition to his wife, Pat, include: One son & daughter-in-law: Roger and Betty Wambsganss of Fredonia, KS One daughter & son-in-law: Rhonda and Vince Weber of Fredonia, KS One sister: Casilda Rosebraugh of Emporia, KS Four grandchildren: Wesley Weber; Tiffany Wambsganss; Tierra Wambsganss Tianne Wambsganss Many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, February 2, 2007 at Timmons Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charlotte Coates of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Fredonia City Cemetery. A memorial has been established in his name with the Wilson County Soil Conservation Unit and may be sent to the funeral home.
