Melvin E. Beye, 63 of Cherryvale, Kansas passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2021 at Via Christi Ascension Hospital in Pittsburg, Kansas.
Melvin Earl Beye was born November 20, 1957 in Eureka, Kansas the son of Ernest Elmer Beye and Zerita Marie (Stice) Beye. He attended Edna grade school and attended Altamont High School.
He served with the United States Army and National Guard for 28 years attaining the rank of Staff Seargent. He worked as a combat engineer and construction equipment supervisor during his service. He also served in Iraqi Freedom in 2004.
He was united in marriage to Ann Shields and they later divorced. On July 4, 2020 in Farlington, Kansas he was united in marriage to Donita Brown and she survives at home.
Melvin worked as a welder for Cylx in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Vallis/Wngroff in Cherryvale, Kansas, The City of Cherryvale Public Works Department and Montgomery County, Kansas Public Works Department.
He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, fishing, the outdoors, drinking beer and being with family and friends.
Melvin was a member of the Coffeyville VFW and American Legion. He also was a member of the Coffeyville American Post 20 Legion Riders and (CVMA) Combat Vets Motorcycle Association.
Survivors include his wife, Donita, of the home, children; Jacob Beye (April) of Pueblo, Colorado, Brenton Beye of Pueblo, Colorado, Christine Call (Bill) of Girard, Kansas, Stanley Brown of Croweburg, Kansas, siblings; Virginia Stough (Jim) of Mulvane, Kansas, Millie Toliver of Cherryvale, Kansas, Melba Yost of Rosalia, Kansas, Clyde Beye (Debbie) of Clearwater, Kansas, Art Beye (Dyann) of Cherryvale, Kansas, sisters in law; Bonnie Beye of Edna, Kansas, Kathy Beye of Neodesha, Kansas and 4 grandchildren.
He was preceded by his parents, 3 brothers, Eldon, Glenn and David Beye and sister, Marie Miller.
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 28, 2021 from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 216 East 4th, Cherryvale, Kansas.
Graveside service with military honors will be 2:00 P.M., Monday, March 1, 2021 at Fairview Cemetery, Cherryvale, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers memorial remembrances are suggested to the family to help with medical expenses, and they may be left or mailed to the funeral home.
