Melvin D. Burt

Melvin D. Burt, 89, of Wichita, Kansas passed away Friday, September 2, 2022, at Family Health and Rehab in Wichita.

Melvin Dean Burt was born January 24, 1933, in Coyville, Kansas the son of Ralph Burt and Waunita (Morgan) Burt. He graduated from Fall River High School in 1951.

After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served four years from 1951 until honorably discharged in 1954. He worked in the boiler room and earned the rank of BT 3rd Class.

On August 5, 1952, in Fredonia, Kansas he was united in marriage to Lavina Joan Vaught, and she survives at the home.

He worked for Boeing in Wichita for 33 years in the main boiler house doing boiler maintenance and retired in 1995.

Melvin enjoyed playing music, working on cars, fishing, and hunting.

He is survived by his wife Joan of the home, sons, Melvin DeWayne Burt of Wichita, Kansas, Danny Joe Burt and his wife JoAnn of Wichita, Kansas, Dusty Lynn Burt and his wife Julia of Wichita, Kansas, 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

He was preceded by his parents and sister Melba Jean Graham.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, September 8, 2022, at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 North 7th Street, Fredonia, Kansas 66736. The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M until service time.

Interment will follow the services at Weakley Cemetery in New Albany, Kansas.

Memorial remembrances are suggested to Good Shepard Hospice, and they may be left or mailed to the funeral home.
