Max Eugene Ecton, 81 years and six days old, a lifelong resident of Coyville, Kansas, died Monday, October 22, 2007, at Galichia Heart Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. He was born October 16, 1926, outside of Coyville, the son of Charles O. and Alice M. (Dice) Ecton. He was a 1943 graduate of Coyville High School. He served with the United States 5th Marines, First Marine Division from January 11, 1945 until October 14, 1946. He spent his entire life as a self-employed farmer in the Coyville area. On July 28, 1953 in Bentonville, Arkansas, he married Mary Anderson. She survives at their home in Coyville. His survivors, in addition to his wife, Mary, include: Three daughters and sons-in-law: Barbara & Dan Unrein of Alma, KS Karla & Bret Quay of Emporia, KS Karen & Roger Compton of Fredonia, KS One daughter-in-law: Pam Ecton of Gridley, KS Ten grandchildren: Jarrod Ecton, Jordan Ecton and Jamie Ecton Shannon Worrel and Todd Worrel Brian Leeds and Matthew Leeds Sarah Baker, Caleb Compton and Lindsay Compton He was preceded in death by his son, Dwight Ecton. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, October 26, 2007, at Timmons Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Gary Sherman of the First Assembly of God Church officiating. Burial will be in the Coyville Cemetery with military rites. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, 2:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M., where the family will receive friends 6:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to the Coyville Community Center or the Coyville Cemetery and may be sent to the funeral home.
