Mary Louise Splechter, 86, a resident of Yates Center, Kansas, died Friday, August 21, 2015 at Diversicare of Chanute, Kansas. She was born August 14, 1929 in Fredonia, Kansas, the daughter of Charles S. and Pearl M. (Hoyt) North. Mary was united in marriage to Thomas L. Splechter in 1948 in Fredonia. They had three sons, Robert, Thomas L. (Tom Jr.) and Edward. Mary loved flowers and gardening as well as watching and feeding the birds. She liked to go fishing and tend to her cattle. She also loved to play bingo and do embroidery. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas L. Splechter; brothers, Clarence North, Walter North and John Allen North; and sisters, Minnie Lindenstruth and Phyllis McElwayne. Her survivors include: Sons: Robert Splechter of Chanute, KS Tom Splechter Jr and wife Becky of Yates Center, KS Ed Splechter and wife Tracy of Yates Center, KS Sisters: Thelma Etherton of Wichita, KS Betty Bell of Wichita, KS Nellie Abel of Oklahoma Brother: Charles North of Fredonia 11 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren Graveside services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at the Fredonia City Cemetery. A memorial has been established in Mary"s name with the Yates Center Friends For Life and contributions may be sent to Timmons Funeral Home.
