Mary Louise Grove

Mary (Louise) Grove, 86, of Cherryvale, Kansas passed away at 4:45 A.M., Monday, January 30, 2023 at her home in Cherryvale.

Mary Louise Grove was born October 6, 1936, in Robeson County, North Carolina, the daughter of Paul Strickland and Annie Lee (Lovin) Strickland. She grew up in Robeson County and attended Lumberton schools through the 11th grade.

On December 20, 1953 at her church in North Carolina she met Ralph (Art) Grove Jr. They were united in marriage on June 3, 1954, in Dillion, South Carolina. After she got married, she moved with her husband to Cherryvale in 1955 and finished high school and graduated with the Cherryvale High School Class of 1956.

She enjoyed cooking and baking. She liked to provide and feed people and loved her family.

Louise was a member of the Cherryvale United Methodist Church where she held many offices, member of Eva Chapter Number 18 Order of the Eastern Star for 58 years. She was a past matron and held many offices. She was Board Member of the Pre School at Cherryvale United Methodist Church and was Board member of the Cherryvale Community Food Bank which she help establish.

Jimmy (Carolyn) Strickland of Lumberton, North Carolina

Pat Willoughby of Marion, North Carolina

Grandchildren: Christopher (Rhys Rhoads) Grove, Adam Grove, Megan (Andrew) Walters, Jonathan (Teryn) Booe, Kenan (Taylor) Booe, Micah (Sarah Beth) Booe, Kimberly (Dustin Medlock) Booe, Jesse Booe, Mary Beth Booe, Abram Booe

Great Grandchildren: Landon Elliott, RyLee Grove, Reyce Booe, Reygan Booe, Rylee Booe, Axel Ballew, Cora Ballew Anna Booe, Phoebe Booe, Ezra Booe, Titus Booe and Flora Cunningham-Booe and many friends of her grandkids who also called her grandma.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Art, son, Paul Grove, two brothers, Paul Strickland Jr., Douglas Strickland and two sisters, Dorothy Lamb and Melba Rowland.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 1, 2023 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 216 East 4th, Cherryvale, Kansas.

Celebration of Life Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Thursday, February 2, 2023, at the funeral home.

Memorial remembrances are suggested to Cherryvale Community Food Bank or Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, and they may be left at or mailed to the funeral home.
