Mary Irene Schultz, 91, a longtime resident of Lafontaine, died, Sunday, June 26, 2011 at her home in Lafontaine. She was born August 21, 1919 in Protection, Kansas, the daughter of Peter and Bessie (Thomas) Ratzlaff. She was a homemaker. On May 4, 1941, at Fredonia, she married Cornelius Schultz. He preceded her in death May 13, 2009. She was a member of the Church of God in Christ-Mennonite. Mary enjoyed gardening and hiking in the mountains of Wyoming with her husband and family. Mary is survived by: Her children: Eugene Schultz of Neodesha, KS Wayne Schultz of Neodesha, KS Loretta Johnson of Rich Hill, MO Maxine Shultz of Elk City, KS James Schultz of Fredonia, KS Wanda Kaufmann of Gentry, AR Karen Hughes of Versailles, MO Floyd Schultz of Stapleton, GA Rita Kingsbury of Fredonia, KS Nedra Nightingale of Fredonia, KS Nancy Tillery of Fredonia, KS Sisters: Violet Chapman of Ottawa, KS Rose Ratzlaff of Neodesha, KS 50 Grandchildren, 61 Great Grandchildren, 3 Great-Great Grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, two sisters, two grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and one daughter-in-law. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at 10:30 A.M. at Church of God in Christ Mennonite. Burial will be in Emmanuel Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday, June 28, 2011, from 7:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. A memorial has been established in her name with the Church of God in Christ Mennonite and may be sent to Timmons Funeral Home. Words of condolence for the family may be left on this website.
