Marvin Kent Ratzlaff

Marvin Kent Ratzlaff, 89, of Newton, Kansas, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2023 at Newton Presbyterian Manor. He was born April 22, 1934 in Chickasha, Oklahoma, the son of Bernard J. and Helena “Lena” (Koehn) Ratzlaff.

He graduated from Emporia State Teacher’s College.

Marvin previously owned a nursery and landscape business in McPherson and retired from the McPherson United States Postal Service as a rural mail carrier.

He was united in marriage to Karen J. Spaht on April 20, 1958 in Fredonia.

Marvin was a member of the Lone Tree Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, rural Galva.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Karen Ratzlaff of Newton; children, Dallas (Elda) Ratzlaff of Galva, Marva (Tim) Curtis of Moundridge, Brad (Wendy) Ratzlaff of Olathe, and Chanin (Mark) Korte of Olathe; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and sisters, Doris (Bob) Wilson of Gentry, AR, and Alverta Ratzlaff of Moundridge.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gilmer (Luella) Ratzlaff; and sister, Wilma Fern Ratzlaff.

Friends may call from 3 to 5 p.m., Friday, November 10, 2023 at Moundridge Funeral Home with family greeting friends from 6:30 to 7:30 at the Lone Tree Mennonite Church, rural Galva. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, November 11, at Lone Tree Mennonite Church. Family will greet friends following the church service at Wickham Funeral Home, 510 N 7th St, Fredonia, KS from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., Saturday, with a graveside service to follow at 5 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, rural Fredonia.
