Fredonia, Kansas

Marvin Eugene Adams,93, of Fredonia, Kansas passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Medicalodges Nursing Home in Independence, Kansas.

He was the son of Harry Albert Adams and Mabel Martha Boss. Born June 22, 1931, on a farm west of Fredonia in Wilson County, Kansas.  He began his education at Gardner Grade School west of Fredonia. Continued his education around Toronto, Kansas graduating the eighth grade at flower hill school east of Toronto.  He graduated from high school at Virgil Kansas in 1949.

On January 9, 1949, began a journey that took him many places and that throughout his remaining year. On this date he received Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and Lord in June of 1950. In June of 1950 he received the call from his lord to become an Independent Baptist Pastor which he accepted in September of 1951 he entered Baptist Bible College at Springfield, Missouri. May of 1954, He graduated with a Graduate of Theology Degree.

In January of 1954 a young beautiful lady named Leora entered college which quickly caught Marvin's eye. After a brief courtship they fell in love and went to Detroit, Michigan where they were married. On September 8th he was ordained to the gospel ministry at a national fellowship meeting at the Temple Baptist Church of Springfield, Missouri by Brother Faye Blakey. He was the Pastor where Marvin and Leora attended while at college. On September 10, at the same Temple Baptist our Pastor Brother Blakey joined us together in Holy Matrimony.

We began to make plans to begin a fundamental Baptist Church at Ypsilanti, Michigan. Meeting in our home later renting a log cabin which we soon outgrew, and they refused to rent to us. Many were given and added to the church. Another church was founded in a nearby area. A lot of memories and some will be in Heaven because of our Journey.

In 1958 I returned to Kansas with my lovely wife and our son Marvin Lee which was born in Ypsilanti, Michigan on August 19, 1956. Through the years Pastoring eight churches. He resigned from pastoring in 1999 after 45 years serving together with his wife.

Our son Marvin Lee Married and gave us three granddaughters and they gave us 8 great grandchildren. This is some facts of a man that was born in Fredonia, Kansas and will be buried at Fredonia Cemetery unless his savior and lord has come and bodily take him to heaven. In that case the words will be little known.

Survivors include Marvin Lee Adams (Son), 3 Granddaughters Melissa and Wade Bryant, Megan Howard, Mistina and Tyler Bolt.  8 Grandchildren Laura Simpson, Fayth Simpson, Wesley Jo Simpson, Austin Howard and Wife Missy, Haleigh Howard, Alivia Howard, Jhett Gray, Christopher Leonard Jr. Great-Great Grandchildren Noah Howard and Kaine Bryant.
