Martha Ann Hendrix

Martha Ann (Hoefler) Hendrix passed away on March 1, 2024. She was born on April 5, 1933, to Paul and Anna (Calkum) Hoefler in Matheson, CO.

She attended a rural school through the 8^th grade and graduated from Simla High School in Simla, CO. 

On August 7, 1952, she united in marriage to Kenneth Hendrix in Hugo, CO; he preceded her in death on December 31, 1995.

She was employed by Pioneer Music Company INC. for 35 years, retiring in 2001.  She was a member of the St Patrick’s Alter Society & Harvest House.  She cheerfully volunteered at the St. Patrick’s rectory as well as the food pantry, and the Cherry Street Youth Center.  

Martha is survived by her sons: Kenneth (Jay) Hendrix (Linda) of Independence, MO; and Kim Hendrix (Betsy) of Bel Aire, KS.  Five grandchildren: Faron Willis, Denver Willis, Elizabeth Roberts, Erin Lawrence, Emily McDonough; ten great-grandchildren: Ethan Willis, Emma (Willis) Moss, Jazmyn Willis, Braden, Kipton & Emmett Roberts, Cooper & Ella Mae Lawrence, Evelyn & Lainey McDonough, and one great-great-grandchild, Ross Carter Willis.  Martha is also survived by her brother-in-law, Lloyd Pond, and many nieces and nephews.  

Besides her husband, she was proceeded in death by her daughter Teresa Willis; siblings: Lawrence Hoefler (Linda), Pauline Maurer (Ted), Dorothy Solomon (Bill), Rita Bradberry (Cap), Agnes Pond, Mary Mikita, and Leo Hoefler (Cleola); two grandsons: Landon Willis & Waylon Willis; and a great-grandson Cody Roberts. 

In lieu of flowers, Martha has requested memorials be made to St Patrick’s Catholic School.

The Rosary will be recited on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 9:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 10:00 a.m. A private family burial will follow the Mass at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery, Chanute, Kansas 66720.
