MARTHA AUGUSTA MAHERMartha A. Maher, 100, of Cherryvale, Kansas passed away Thursday, January 22, 2015 at her home.Martha Augusta Maher was born August 2, 1914 in Morrowville, Kansas the daughter of Ernest Isle and Emma (Gussman) Isle. She grew up in Cherryvale, Liberty and Montgomery County area and attended Independence schools.On June 1, 1933 in Liberty, Kansas she was united in marriage to Ignatius Maher and he preceded her in death October 11, 2002.She was a homemaker and loved gardening, canning, cooking and baking. She will be remembered for her compassion, warm loving heart and her Saturday morning pancakes with homemade syrup.Martha was a member of the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and St. Francis Xavier Altar Society.Survivors include children, Daniel Ernest Maher of Dallas, Texas, Linda Louise Hammer of Cherryvale, Kansas, James Richard Maher of Emporia, Kansas, sisters in law, Evelyn Isle of Bakersfield, California, Mary Isle and Jean Quaglione both of Coffeyville, Kansas, 22 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and 19 great great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son, Ignatius Alfred Maher in 2000, son, Patrick Joseph Maher in 1992, daughter, Edith (Maher) Idleman in 2009, daughter, Phyllis (Maher) Heck in 1981, son, Mark Glen Maher in 1961, four brothers, Raymond, John, Dale and Roy Isle, two sisters Velda Mae Evans and Lila Marie Isle.Friends may sign the register book from 12 Noon until 4:00 P.M Sunday, January 25, 2015 at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 216 East 4th Street, Cherryvale, Kansas.Reciting of the Rosary will be held 6:00 P.M., Sunday, January 25, 2015 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with the family receiving friends afterwards.Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 A.M., Monday, January 26, 2015 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Reverend Andrew Heiman, celebrant. Interment will be held in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Cemetery.Memorial remembrances are suggested to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church or The Old Fashioned Baptist Church and they may be left or mailed to the funeral home.
