Marlene Kay (Robinson) Connolly

Marlene Kay (Robinson) Connolly, 59, a resident of Iola, Kansas, formerly of Fredonia, Kansas, died Saturday, July 6, 2013 at her daughter"s home in Iola. She was born May 3, 1954 at Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Ivan and Carlyn (Jones)Robinson. Marlene was a 1973 graduate of Fredonia High School. Throughout the years, she worked in food service in several area hospitals. On January 1, 2002, in Iola, Kansas, Marlene was united in marriage to Ray Connolly. He survives at their home. Marlene was a member of the First Baptist Church in Iola and former member of the Bible Baptist Church in Fredonia. Marlene loved music and was an avid Elvis Presley fan and enjoyed collecting Elvis memorabilia. In addition to her parents and her husband, Marlene"s survivors include: Daughter: Stephanie Rutledge of Iola, KS Son: Danny Stanturf of Lawrence, KS Sisters: Cheryl Robinson of Ottawa, KS Brenda Roberts of Joplin, MO Karla Wadewitz of Ottawa, KS Julie Robinson of Augusta, KS Grandchildren: Brittney and Jacob of Iola, KS Step-Children: Mandy Connolly, Tammy Connolly, Justin Connolly, David Connolly and Donovan Connolly Seven Step-Grandchildren Her grandparents, Ivan and Irene Robinson and Magdalene Jones, preceded Marlene in death. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday, July 11, 2013 at the Bible Baptist Church with Pastor Jeremiah Baird and Pastor Mike Quinn officiating. Burial will be in the Fredonia City Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 10, 2013, 4:00 P.M.-6:00 P.M. at Timmons Funeral Home. A memorial has been established in Marlene"s name with the American Cancer Society and can be sent to or left with Timmons Funeral Home.
