MARK EARL THOMPSONMark E. Thompson, 54, of Cherryvale passed away Friday, August 9, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family.Celebration of Life Memorial services will be held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 216 East 4th Street, Cherryvale, Kansas." Inurnment will be held at a later date.Memorial remembrances are suggested to the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice and they may be left or mailed at the funeral home.Mark Earl Thompson was born February 3, 1959 in Coffeyville, Kansas the son of Floyd Thompson and Marlene (Bearden) Thompson." He grew up in Cherryvale and graduated from Cherryvale High School in 1977.On December 11, 1979 in Miami, Oklahoma he was united in marriage to Susan Oliphant and she survives at the home.Mark worked several years doing auto repair with his dad"s business Floyd"s Parkway on Liberty and Sixth Street in Cherryvale. He later went to work in the molded fiberglass and plastic business at Charloma in Cherryvale for 14 years and later at Cobalt Boats in Neodesha for 5 years until ill health forced him to retire.He enjoyed fishing, golfing, tinkering around in his garage, watching football and was an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan." He also was a great Father, good provider and compassionate with others.Survivors include wife Susan of the home, parents, Floyd and Marlene Thompson of Cherryvale, Kansas, two sons, Joshua Edward Thompson of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Jesse Lee Thompson of Joplin, Missouri, one daughter, Sara Suzanne Thompson, Independence, Kansas, one brother, Wesley Thompson and his wife Tonna of Girard, Kansas, one sister, Holly Mulvaney and her husband Todd of Ely, England, one granddaughter, Callie Thompson of Independence, KS and several nieces and nephews.
