Marion Thomas “Bubba” Nelson, 67, of Chanute, KS passed away November 1, 2019, at Heritage Health Care Center in Chanute.
Marion was born to Leroy and Kathryn (Jackson) Nelson, April 19, 1952 in Pittsburg, KS.
He graduated from Pittsburg high school in 1970.
Marion enjoyed reading his Bible and watching tv. Marion served in the United States Army for 2 yrs. After returning home from the service, he worked as a construction worker for various companies, and was also active as an ordained minister.
Marion is survived by his Father: Leroy Sr. and step mother, Louise Nelson of Pittsburg, KS, Children; Thomas Nelson of Parsons, KS, Bryce Joel Smith of Independence, MO, Adrian Thomas Nelson of Chanute, KS, and step-daughter Courtney Smerdon of Chanute, KS, two sisters, Judy Sharp (James) of Tulsa, OK, Marva Nelson (Thomas) of Fayetteville, AR, two brothers, Leroy Nelson Jr. of Fayetteville, AR, and Bill Nelson of Pittsburg, KS, five grand-children, and ten great-grand.
Marion is preceded in death by his mother, Kathryn Nelson, daughter, Dolores “Tiny” Johnson, a brother, James Giles, and a sister, Beverley Turner.
