Marilyn R. Dean

Marilyn R. Dean, 62, of Fredonia, Kansas passed away Thursday, December 28, 2017 at Freeman Health System in Joplin, Missouri.

Marilyn Ruth Dean was born December 4, 1955 in Joplin, Missouri the daughter of Harry Allen and Helen (Shaw) Allen. She graduated from Galena, Kansas High School in 1973 and attended Pittsburg State University. She was a member of the Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority.

On September 24, 1977 in Pittsburg, Kansas she was united in marriage to Dennis S. Dean and he survives at the home.

Marilyn worked as a Loan Specialist for the United States Department of Agriculture for 32 years. She will be remembered for her dedication of helping families purchase their first home.

Survivors include her husband of the home, son, Jason M. Dean and his wife Tasha of Pittsburg, Kansas, sisters, Cheryl Allen of Phoenix, Arizona, Sharon Miller, Arcadia, Kansas, grandchildren, Kaidyn James and Kyenna Dean.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, William Allen and Larry Grufford.

Celebration of Life Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 2, 2017 at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 N. 7th, Fredonia, Kansas 66736. The family will greet friends from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home.

She enjoyed camping, canoeing and anything that had to do with the outdoors. She loved being a grandparent to her two grandchildren Kaidyn and Kyenna.

Memorial remembrances are suggested to the Marilyn R. Dean Grandchildren Education Fund and they may be left or mailed to the funeral home.
