Marguerite Doris Miller

Marguerite Doris Miller, 102, of Fall River, Kansas, passed away, Thursday, December 24, 2020 at Neodesha Care and Rehabilitation Center. Marguerite was born on, April 30, 1918, on a farm just outside Cherokee, Kansas to Delbert and Bessie (Laird) Russell.

Marguerite married Herbert Raymond Miller on August 22, 1987, he preceded her in death.

Marguerite was a retired English teacher, teaching in a rural school prior to receiving her degree at Pittsburg State University and then junior high school students in Iowa. She loved teaching and working with the students.

She was known for her many years of organizing the Christmas Cantata for the Methodist Church in Fall River. She loved collecting antiques and she was known in the area for her vast knowledge of antiques and especially antique quilts. She also enjoyed music and was a very intelligent lady.

One of her greatest adventures was taking a trip around the world. The trip was on a ship and it lasted 3 months, with stops all around the world. She visited President Eisenhower in Washington at the White House and shook his hand. She was quoted as saying “I thought I could do it, so I did it, and the Good Lord must have been looking after me.”

Marguerite had 5 grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Raymond, Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents; brothers and sisters; Max Maurice Russell, Charlotte L. Russell, Betty D. Russell, Benefield F. Russell; her children; Ledford Ray Miller, Russell Miller.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 6, 2020 at Charleston Cemetery near Fall River, Kansas under the direction of Wickham Family Funeral Home 510 N. 7th Fredonia, Kansas 66736.

Memorials are suggested to the Fall River Methodist Church or Fall River Library.
