Louise Adeline (East) Morrison, age 90, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2019 at her home in Fredonia, Kansas.
Louise was born June 3, 1929 to Earl Edward Massey and Mabel Helen (Burris) Massey in Wichita, Kansas. Louise was one of four children including her brother, Clyde Edward Massey, sister Virginia Lee Massey and brother, Paul Eugene Massey.
The Massey family was a pioneer family of Sedgwick County. They enjoyed many happy reunions. The cousins were very close and were more like brothers and sisters.
In May 1935, Louise moved to a small farm in Harper County with her mother, father and two siblings. Louise attended the first grade at the Sunnyside school in Wichita, then attended Pleasant Valley District #51, also known as Ferguson which later consolidated and was called the Eagle School. Louise was named one of three honor students in the class of 1943. She graduated from Spring Township High School in 1947. Louise was awarded a full college scholarship and attended Northwestern State College at Alva, Oklahoma.
Louise was united in marriage to George Allen East September 5, 1948 at the First Methodist Church in Kiowa, Kansas. They resided in rural Grant County for 17 years before relocating to a suburban farm in Independence, Kansas. George preceded her in death in 1980.
Louise married James David Morrison August 30, 1982 at the First Baptist Church in Independence, Kansas. They resided there until their move to Fredonia Kansas. They were married 23 years. David preceded her in death in 2005.
Louise worked 30 years at a variety of jobs including cook, receptionist at Potts Chapel in Independence, Kansas, administrative assistant at City Publishing also in Independence and caregiver. She cared for her aging family members offering them her home as their own. She will be remembered for her devotion to family, deep love for family and her dedication to her Christian faith. She served her Savior Jesus Christ with the gifts, abilities and resources with which she had been blessed.
Louise is preceded in death by her parents Earl Edward Massey and Mabel Helen (Burris) Massey, husband George Allen East, husband James David Morrison, brother Clyde Massey and wife Bobbie Jo Massey; brother Paul Massey; sister, Virginia Lee Reutlinger, nephew Tony Earl Reutlinger, nephew Stanley Ray Massey and nephew Mitchell Dean Massey.
Louise is survived by three step-children, step-sons David and his wife Janie of Independence, Kansas and Roger Morrison of Galveston, Texas; step-daughter Loretta Wright of Joplin, Missouri; six step-grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Raymond Reutlinger of Fredonia, Kansas; sister-in-law, Virginia Massey of Kechi, Kansas; Nephews, Bradley (Kathy) Massey of Wichita, Kansas, Danny (Linda) Reutlinger of Owasso, Oklahoma, Gary (Michele) Reutlinger of Fredonia, Kansas, Randy (Rose) Reutlinger of Fredonia, Kansas, Richard (Lori) Massey of Texas, Larry (Vicki) Massey of Derby, Kansas and Brian Massey of Winfield, Kansas, nieces, Teresa (Chris) Chaney of Kechi, Kansas, Adrienne Massey of El Dorado, Kansas, Naomi Massey of Florida, and numerous great and great great nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held Friday, November 29, 2019 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 P.M. at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 North 7th, Fredonia, Kansas 66736.
Celebration of Life Services will be 10:00 A.M., Saturday, November 30, 2019 at the First Christian Church at Fredonia, Kansas. Interment will follow the services at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kansas.
Memorial remembrances are suggested to the First Christian Church of Fredonia, Kansas and they may be left or mailed to the funeral home.
