Loren "Butch" Lee Showalter, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at his residence on August 13, 2024, He was born in Erie, Kansas on April 5, 1943, to Lawrence and Ellen (Robinson) Showalter. Butch was a graduate of Erie High School. He was united in marriage to Shirley (Dillow) Showalter, on December 21, 1968, in Chanute, Kansas where their Life’s Journey began conquering the world hand in hand.
Butch worked at Ash Grove Cement Company in Chanute, where he dedicated many years of service before retiring.
Butch was a kind-hearted man with a deep devotion to his faith and had a profound love for his Lord and Savior. He cherished his family above all else, finding immense joy in spending time with his loved ones. Butch had a gentle spirit that touched the lives of many.
In his leisure time, Butch enjoyed a variety of hobbies and interests. Whether he was riding his bicycle, fishing, diving into the pages of his Bible, or simply relishing moments with family and friends, he lived a fulfilling life enriched by these simple pleasures.
Butch is survived by his loving wife Shirley, of the home, their sons Scott and his wife Stacy Showalter of Chanute, KS, and Marc Showalter of Erie, KS, and his brother Skip Showalter of Erie, KS. His grandchildren will deeply miss him; Ashton White, Dillon Funk, Steven Showalter, Donavan Showalter, Jayda Showalter, Kaine Showalter, Karter Showalter, and Kollin Showalter as well as lots of extended family members.
He is preceded in death by his parents, in-laws, and his brothers, Larry, Jerry, Randy, Richard Showalter, and one sister Merle Grady.
Butch left this world, finding eternal peace in the arms of Jesus, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and kindness that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
In Honor of Butch, memorials are suggested to the Church of the Nazarene Congregational Care and can be left with or mailed to Wickham Family Funeral Home 500 North Forest Ave. Chanute, Kansas 66720.
A visitation is planned for Friday, August 23, 2024, at the Chanute Church of the Nazarene from 6 pm to 8 pm.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, August 24, 2024, at The Chanute Church of the Nazarene at 10:00 am, the burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery, Chanute, KS.
Services are under the guidance of Wickham Family Funeral Home 500 North Forest Ave. Chanute, Kansas 66720.
