Leslie Lee Isom (Les) 78, passed away on July 14, 2021, in Camarillo, California.

Les was born in San Bernardino, CA to William Delos and Juanita Vetras Isom on October 21. He went to school at Stark High School in Stark, KS. He married Linda Diane Whitworth on July 30, 1966 in Chanute, KS. He later Married Patricia Shanks on June 24, 1995 in Camarillo, CA. He had 3 children, 9 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He worked as a mechanic and machinist for most of his adult life. He joined the US Navy in 1966 where he was a minesweeper and engine mechanic. He was a veteran of the Vietnam war and served in the Navy for 10 years, 2 months and 16 days (as quoted by him) and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal 1 Bronze Star, Combat action Ribbon Meritorious Unit Commendation and a Presidential Unit Citation Medal. In his spare time, he loved to watch old western movies, pan for gold, treasure hunt, go camping, work on cars and do woodworking.

Les is preceded in death by Lillie May Bundy, Delos & Juanita Isom and Patty Whalen.

Les is survived by Phillip Isom, Larry Isom, Pat Isom, Anita & Cass Walker, Theresa Majers, Les Isom, Bradly Zozaya, Christian & Tamie O’Neill, Bryce Buccola, Madison O’Neill, Charlie Ferguson, Lukas Isom, Skyler Shanks, Payten Majers, Paige Isom, Alec Zozaya, Brody Kallas, Teddy Cohens, Graylyn O’Neill, Hazel Cohens, Aspen O’Neill and Sophia Cohens.

The family of Les wishes to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who assisted him with his treatments and care: Helen and Jennifer from Assisted Hospice care, Chris and Jane, Michael from Boyko & Reardon Mortuary, Tina from the Gary Sinise Foundation, and many more that cannot be listed.

Graveside service will be held August 3, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Mount, Moriah Cemetery, Stark, KS. Military Honors will be presented by the Chanute Honor Guard.

Services are under the guidance of Wickham Family Funeral Home, 500 North Forest Ave. Chanute, KS 66720
