Leroy “Bud” Stacy, age 94, of Parsons, KS formerly of Cherryvale, KS passed away May 17, 2022, at his home.
He was born January 6, 1928, to Clarence and Essie (Frew) Stacy in Labette City, KS.
Leroy graduated from Cherryvale High School in 1946. He married Maxine Housel in 1953. Bud attended Coffeyville Junior College before starting work as a mail carrier. He retired in 1985 after being a mail carrier for 32 years.
Leroy served as a Corporal in Korea from 1950-1952 with the 40th Infantry Division. He earned a bronze medal, good conduct, and sharpshooter medals.
He enjoyed golfing and bowling until his health began to affect him. He was happy to get a hole-in-one in 2002. Leroy was an avid KU Jayhawks and KC Chiefs fan.
Leroy was the last member of his family and preceded in death by, his parents, siblings, Opal Ott Myers, James (Bill) Stacy, Frances McGuire, Lucille Spencer, Hazel Stacy, Don Stacy, and Jay Stacy.
Leroy is survived by his wife, Maxine, sister-in-law, Laura Groff and brother-in-law, Robert J. Housel (Gloria) of Kansas City.
Leroy has several nieces and nephews and loved each one.
Memorial remembrances are suggested to the USD 447 Alumni Association, and they may be left or mailed to Wickham Family Funeral Home, 216 East 4th Street, Cherryvale, Kansas 67335.
Celebration of Life Services for Bud will be held 1:30 P.M., Thursday, May 26, 2022, at Wickham Family Funeral Home of Cherryvale.
Inurnment will follow services at Fairview Cemetery in Cherryvale.
